AI Chat lets you have natural conversations with powerful language models. Ask questions, get summaries, analyze content, and explore ideas.
Two ways to chat:

The AI searches your sources, finds relevant passages, and cites where the information came from.
Key Features
Source-Grounded Answers
In notebook chat, answers come from your actual documents — not just general knowledge. Every claim includes citations you can verify.
Thinking Stages
Watch the AI work. You’ll see what it’s doing: classifying your question, searching sources, ranking results, and generating a response.
Web Search
Toggle web search to include current information from the internet. Available in both notebook and general chat.
Multiple Models
Choose from 35+ AI models including Claude, GPT-4, Gemini, and Llama. Each has different strengths and credit costs.
Message Actions
- Copy — Copy the response to your clipboard
- Regenerate — Get a fresh answer to the same question
- Feedback — Thumbs up or down to help improve responses

Use general chat for brainstorming, general questions, or when you don’t have relevant sources.
Getting Started
Open Chat
For notebook chat: Open a notebook and find the chat panel on the right.
For general chat: Click AI Chat in the sidebar.
Ask a Question
Type your question naturally. Be specific for better results.
Review the Response
The AI shows its thinking process, then delivers an answer with citations (if using sources).
