Adding Sources
Sources are the documents and content that power your AI conversations. Let’s add your first source.
Open your notebook
Click on the notebook you just created to open it.
Click “Add Source”
Look for the Add Source button in your notebook.
Choose your source type
Select how you want to add content:
| Type | What to Do |
|---|---|
| File Upload | Drag and drop a PDF, DOCX, TXT, or Markdown file |
| URL | Paste any web page URL |
| YouTube | Paste a YouTube video URL (we’ll extract the transcript) |
Wait for processing
Onsomble will process your source:
- Extract the text content
- Generate embeddings for semantic search
- Make it available for chat
Note
Processing usually takes a few seconds to a minute, depending on file size.
Supported Formats
| Type | Formats |
|---|---|
| Documents | PDF, DOCX, TXT, MD |
| Web | Any public URL |
| Video | YouTube (with transcripts) |
Tips for Better Results
- Use clean documents — Well-formatted PDFs work best
- Multiple sources — Add several related documents for richer context
- Check processing status — Look for the green checkmark
Tip
You can add as many sources as you need. The AI will search across all of them when answering questions.
