Keyboard Shortcuts

Skip the mouse. These shortcuts help you work faster.

Note

On Mac, use Cmd instead of Ctrl.

Moving Around

Shortcut	What it does
`Arrow keys`	Move one cell
`Tab`	Move right
`Shift + Tab`	Move left
`Enter`	Move down
`Shift + Enter`	Move up
`Ctrl + Arrow`	Jump to edge of data
`Ctrl + Home`	Go to cell A1
`Ctrl + End`	Go to last cell with data
`Page Down`	Scroll down one screen
`Page Up`	Scroll up one screen
`Alt + Page Down`	Scroll right one screen
`Alt + Page Up`	Scroll left one screen

Tip

Ctrl + Arrow jumps to the edge of your data. Great for large spreadsheets.

Selecting Cells

Shortcut	What it does
`Shift + Arrow`	Extend selection one cell
`Shift + Click`	Select from current cell to clicked cell
`Ctrl + Shift + Arrow`	Select to edge of data
`Ctrl + Shift + End`	Select to last cell
`Ctrl + Shift + Home`	Select to cell A1
`Ctrl + A`	Select all (press twice for whole sheet)
`Ctrl + Space`	Select entire column
`Shift + Space`	Select entire row

Editing Cells

Shortcut	What it does
`F2`	Edit the current cell
`Enter`	Confirm and move down
`Tab`	Confirm and move right
`Escape`	Cancel editing
`Delete`	Clear cell contents
`Backspace`	Clear and start editing
`Ctrl + Z`	Undo
`Ctrl + Y`	Redo

Quick Entry

Just start typing to replace what’s in a cell:

Key	What happens
Any letter/number	Replaces cell content
`=`	Starts a formula
`'`	Forces text (won’t become a formula)

Copy and Paste

Shortcut	What it does
`Ctrl + C`	Copy
`Ctrl + X`	Cut
`Ctrl + V`	Paste
`Ctrl + Shift + V`	Paste values only (no formulas)

Tip

Paste Values pastes the calculated result, not the formula. Useful when you want to freeze a number.

Working with Formulas

Shortcut	What it does
`=`	Start a formula
`Tab`	Accept autocomplete suggestion
`F4`	Toggle between relative and absolute reference
`Escape`	Cancel the formula

The F4 Trick

Press F4 while editing a cell reference to cycle through options:


A1 → $A$1 → A$1 → $A1 → A1

Rows and Columns

Shortcut	What it does
`Ctrl + +`	Insert row or column
`Ctrl + -`	Delete row or column
`Ctrl + 9`	Hide selected rows
`Ctrl + Shift + 9`	Show hidden rows
`Ctrl + 0`	Hide selected columns
`Ctrl + Shift + 0`	Show hidden columns

Formatting
