Create Content
Now that you’ve gathered sources and asked questions, let’s create something from your research. Onsomble’s document canvas lets you write alongside AI, with your sources as context.
Open the Workspace tab
In your notebook, click on the Workspace tab to access your files and documents.
Create a new document
Click New Document to open a blank canvas. This is your writing space — a rich text editor where you can draft, edit, and format content.
Start writing or generate a draft
You have two options:
- Write manually — Start typing and use AI assistance as you go
- Ask AI to draft — Use the chat to ask AI to generate a first draft based on your sources (e.g., “Write a summary of the key findings from my research”)
Use inline AI editing
Highlight any text in your document to access AI editing options:

| Expand | Add more detail and depth to the selection |
| Summarise | Condense the selected text into a shorter version |
| Improve | Fix grammar, clarity, and flow |
Review AI suggestions
When AI makes changes, you can:
- Accept the suggestion to apply it to your document
- Reject it to keep your original text
- Edit the suggestion before accepting
Tip
The AI already has context from your sources — it can write content grounded in your research without you having to copy-paste quotes or switch between tabs.
Tips for Better Results
- Be specific with prompts — Instead of “write about this topic”, try “write a 3-paragraph summary of the market trends from my uploaded report”
- Iterate in stages — Generate a rough draft first, then use inline editing to refine sections
- Mix manual and AI writing — Write the parts you know well, let AI help with the rest
